Sanitation of the snorkeling gear is a big question and it is definitely something that you should consider. In a world where illnesses are pretty easily transmitted you should make sure of the sanitation.  

BUYING YOUR SNORKEL GEARS

You know that your snorkel gear fits you really well. It is something for you to try and have at all. This is an important thing for you to have.  

You would be extra sure of the sanitation of the gear. You don’t have to worry about human-transmitted diseases so, that should be something for you to work out for. You know that the only person who touched it is you so you won’t have to second guess.  

There will be no need for you to hunt down for a rental place, you can just go straight to your destination and do your activity over it too.  

Cons:  

If you just like to snorkel to experience it once buying your own gear will be expensive for you. You will also have to carry the gear around with you and this will add some considerable bulk to your luggage.  

So, you better consider it well whether you should rent your gear or not. This way you know what you are getting yourself into.
